Oil and water don't mix. I know this, but so often I try to keep things shook up for the sake of "making it work." You know what that has gotten me? Nothing but tired. Some people do not mix; like oil and water. I am at a point in my life where I strive for harmony in my relationships. Ask my closest friends, I go with the flow and believe majority wins; unless it goes against God's will. The older I get I have found the boat doesn't always have to be rocked, and I don't always have to be right. I have also learned that my tolerance for argumentative people is at an all-time low. I literally cannot, CANNOT delve into a pointless battle of the wills. None of us have to allow people who drain us into our lives. We do not have to make the oil and water mix. If it doesn't work, especially after you have tried and tried and tried...give yourself permission to put your hands up, say "I give" and walk away. Understand it 's hard to like someone who doesn't even love themselves. Know that you are not wrong if you continue to try, but also know that you are not wrong to say enough is enough. Some people are put in our lives to polish and refine us. And after they've done their job, thank God for lessons learned and remove yourself from them. "Whenever possible keep peace." That's not only the truth of Gods Word; it's also a characteristic I look for in people I call my closest friends. These type of people will lift you up, not wear you down. Life is hard, Satan wants to destroy you, so do yourself a favor, set clear boundaries for your life and pursue peace. Require this of yourself and those who you "do life" with.
