Doing Life Together

I am a runner; not a great one, but I keep up. The latter part of 2015, God hooked me up with some like minded crazies. We call ourselves the Sole Sisters. For the life of us, we cannot understand why people wouldn't make the choice to run, and we also cannot understand why we did. In truth, you don't pick a runners life; it picks you. Whether the temperature outside is a three digit number or down in the teens, we just get up and get to it. It's been said many times that the first mile is the hardest. But the reality is the first step out of your house is the hardest. It's a love/hate relationship that we have with running. We hate it before we start, and we love it by the finish. One aspect that makes running so appealing, other than the triumphant feeling that comes with pushing yourself beyond your limits and finishing what you started out to do, is the bond created with those people who are running with you. When one of us is falling behind, the others encourage to keep up and if that is impossible, the others slow and move along steady beside the struggling runner until she has the strength to get goin'. Together we celebrate little triumphs as well as notable ones. And as much as we each want to do our personal best, we honestly hope that others do their best too, (yes...even if it's better.) We're a motley crew, but it works for us. The Sole Sister's remind me of what the Church ought to be. People who are focused on the same goal, disciplining themselves, conditioning their souls, but at the same time helping their mates in this race of life. Wanting the very best for the ones they are doing this life with, and still pressing on towards their reward. Collectively knowing that others seriously question the sanity behind our choice to follow Christ. And sharing the common knowledge that "If they only knew the high of the run," they'd want it too. I'm blessed that my Sole Sister's are also my Soul Sister's. I want to encourage you to pray for like minded "crazies" and do this life with them. The goal is Heaven. One of my favorite quotes is "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." Be mindful of what unity in Christ is and press on towards the goal.

"And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near." Hebrews 10:24-27
