Attached To An Identity?

When you offer a solution to someone you love and they reject the solution, do not take it personal. These people do not believe your solution is either right for them or the solution would contradict their struggle and/or identity. How do you know where they are? If time goes by and if this person is still not implementing a solution for their problem, then most likely they are attached to the problem and it would contradict their struggle and their identity. Sometimes people’s problems is how they identify themselves as they get their psychological needs met this way. Until they are rock bottom, they will not change. Rock bottom is overrated, however, it is what spurns many to change…if they ever do. Some people are chronic self-sabotagers and never succeed in recreating themselves. For these people to recreate themselves, it is a lot of work…the emotion work has to be completed before a physical transformation can occur.

I say all this to encourage you to meet people where they are and move on. Your job is to educate, let them decide, and you support no matter what the decision is, but do NOT get discouraged as there are people out there that are ready and willing to change for the better and is looking for your solution and guiance. Keep going!! I tell everyone to speak and spread the truth and let those that hear it from you wrestle with it themselves. They will at some point in their lives. Your work is never in vain, but you have to stay in action to see the fruits of it. I have had people that I gave them info and they tried many solutions which did not work and they eventually came back and started my solution a year or two later. Some people have to learn the hard way. We are a nation that is drowning in information, but starving for wisdom. Be patient, meet people where they are, and press onward always in the truth.
