Setting New Standards

I want to share a personal breakthrough I had last week. As many of you know health and wellness and teaching others to improve their health through prevention is one of my top passions in life. The need to care for others and their health was what led me to graduate from nursing school. I practiced for several years, then ended up walking away from the healthcare industry and joining my husband in the telecommunication industry because of our moving so frequently. My Granny Evans and my sister, Mary’s, battles with cancer caused an awakening and a sense of urgency for me to get back to what I was passionate about which was healthcare. However, because of my decade long research of realizing that nutrition, not medicine was the answer I decided to take a different approach to helping others.
During the time that my sister had been diagnosed with cancer, I had reached out for a second opinion online and one oncologist educated me swiftly that chemo toxicity, dehydration and malnutrition killed more cancer patients than the cancer itself did. He referred me to a nutritional plan and I began my research immediately. I ordered it for my sister and although she lost her battle, I can rejoice that it was not due to malnutrition or dehydration. Nevertheless, I knew that I wanted to share these products with as many people so
Now when I said I researched this company, I went over it with a fine toothcomb. I had one serious reservation and it was that these great products came to us via a network marketing company and I was such a snob to this industry because of my limiting beliefs that it was a slimy, no win, self serving industry. Let me just say, the company, its executive team and support staff, the scientist and researchers some of which were on nobel peace prize winning teams, the scientifially proven product as their research has been published in nutritional journals and the products are of high quality, safe, and effective products, and the business tools were set up for teams to be successful. The white elephant was that it was in the network marketing arena and for so many years this industry has been plagued with negativity and people like myself had such deep beliefs that network marketing companies take advantage of people.
Deep down, I knew what these products did for my sister. When she passed, she weighed over 150 pounds after battling cancer for 3 years. These products allowed her to keep her weight on and we pushed fluids to keep her hydrated. My husband and I had used their solutions for weight loss and had great experiences. I had seen over and over what these products had to offer so I shared them and I had a great product customer base. However, I had never broken through to create a team of business builders as we were all just product users and sharing products with others. See the company had just had it’s convention in August and their new 90 Day Game Plan was about to begin so I was like why do I never particpate in these activities? This is an activity where they challange you to share this gift with more people. And then the came the breakthorugh last week.
I had witnessed leaders not really acting how I would expect a leader to act. I had witnessed what I perceived as self-serving acts as people were controlling teams in terms of giving direction and recruiting practices to rank advance that if used in a corporate setting would have been deemed unethical. Having witnessed these behaviors, it was just reaffiriming my old beliefs in this industry. I was thinking to myself that this is exactly why I don’t like being associated with network marketing. I was questioning what I was going to do about it. As always I like to live in the solution so I meditated over the situation and I found that I had three choices. Firstly, I could walk away from a company and products that I loved and know are great. Secondly, I could just continue to use and share the products. Lastly, I could set a new standard for the leaders in this industry and show up as the leader that I want to see.
So last week, I made a committment to myself and my team that I am going with the last option. You can’t effect change unless you become the change. This company has a gift…a high quality products that are literally life changing both physically and financially and I am not going to let those who choose to give this industry a bad name to hold me back from sharing this gift. It is time that those of us who are honest and ready to serve take this industry back by setting new standards as this is the only way to change the perception. I am sure there are many more people like myself out there that feel or have felt just like I did so that is why I am sharing this breakthrough. I do believe that if we are not where we want to be in any area of life that we need to take a look within at our limiting beliefs. We always have choices and in my case I am attaching a new meaning to this industry…it isn’t slimy just a few people are and that gives it a bad name, but see there are power in numbers and just WHAT IF those servant and honest leaders can outweigh those bad apples. This is where magic happens and we effectively change the perception of an entire industry one company at a time.
