Doing Things My Way: A Test of Faith

I am a pretty independant, strong willed woman. My environment and circumstances required me to grow up swiftly shaping me into who I am today. There are pros and cons to being a tough guy. Although my will has taken me pretty far, I will have to say that faith is and will always be my sustainer and it is not always easy to let go and let God as I have been notorious for not holding out to let God work things out nor asking him often as I should to do so.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you are questioning God? Well don’t be so quick to beat yourself up, even Father Abraham did the same thing when he and his wife could not conceive a child. He and his wife even went as far to take matters into his own hands and have a child with a help maid. We all know the story that at the ripe age of 100 Abraham and his wife have a son, Issac. Abraham’s faith became stronger to the point he was willing to sacrifice Issac as God asked him to, but his faith was so strong he also knew at this point that God would work it out which God did by this only being a test of faith and Issac was unbound from the altar and not sacrificed.
This Biblical story is so relevant to us today. I try to live in the solution so I am quick to remove obstacles. The only thing is that sometimes my answer is not the answer. How I think things should work out and how they do work out are not always the same. Now I am NOT advocating that you shouldn’t live in the solution, I am stating that we should unburden ourselves and seek out our Father’s assistance and let Him guide us and providentially intervene as necessary.
We all get caught up in this rat race called life and we have been trained to desire instant gratification, therefore patience is a rarity and a struggle. This is where faith comes in…we have to grow in faith. When we are willing to let go of things we can’t control and trust that God will work it out and yes, you have to ask Him to do so as well. Seek and ye shall find, ask and you shall receive…in His way though. Sometimes when we ask for something and it doesn’t occur, then not getting what we want or when we want it may be the answer. We operate in space and time, but our divine power does not. So don’t get discouraged, instead focus on being the best version of yourself that you can be daily while knowing God never forsakes us.
