Taking back your health requires many steps, but most of them are a required part of your everyday living anyway. To have great health requires that you make better judgements.
Today's shout out goes to Melanie. Melanie didn't talk about getting healthy she got into action and made it happen. I love what her shirt says, " Don't wish for it, work for it." This says it all...everything worth having requires work.
What does working for your health look like? Well, it requires that you plan your meals as you shop. I am not saying that you have you do meal prep for the week spending a day out of your weekend doing it, but what I am saying that you have to purchase clean food that will allow you to be successful. I recommend to all those that I coach to purchase a NuWave Oven...it is a one time purchase of for like $100 bucks, but it will become one of the most valuable items in your kitchen. It delivers and cooks meats and meals in minutes so worth the money. I find myself ensuring that I have healthy snacks in the house like hummus, peanut butter, fermented foods like Farmhouse herbed sauerkrauts, olives, avocados, tomatoes, celery, carrots, and nuts, etc. to ensure that I am healthy snacking. I also try to prep my lunches instead of dinners. Dinners is a sacred time in our home and we like to be soulful and sit around the table with our little one and discuss what happened throughout their day and prepare for tomorrow.
Lastly, let's talk about the elephant in the room when it comes to working and taking back your health, that elephant is exercising. Food is 80% of the battle and exercise is 20% and the exercise doesn't have to be frightening or extraneous. In the beginning, start walking and work your way up. I can tell you that women balance there hormones faster by adding weights and strength training, however, work up to getting back into the gym or adding weights into your routine. Just get moving...this is the key. I have had people lose over 100lbs that for months only walked everyday. Do not think that just because you aren't crushing crossfit or the gym with weights that you are not going to be successful because you can. As with anything, if you want accelerated results, then you have to do that which will give you accelerated results. Walking will aid you in weight loss and maintenance. Intermittent fasting and weight training will shred you and will help you find those rock hard abs so be realistic with your expectations.
