As I sat in church Sunday evening, March 27th, our minister was preaching a sermon on God’s word being the hammer…it was a very good lesson and if you are entrigued to listen you can locate it at www.pblcoc.org click on the sermons tab, then click on David Sproule, and look for this date and sermon. One thing that hit me as I listened is that when he referenced the temptation of Jesus is that Jesus could have so easily shown the devil up, but at that point he would have given into sin. Where sin is there is no salvation. See Jesus started his mission with the end in mind and this is what kept him focused.
During Jesus’ tempatation by the devil, He showed us that it was better to be rich than right. He could have exerted his powers and shown up the devil, but at what cost? It would have been at the cost of our eternal life and our souls’ salvation. Jesus had the end in mind before our creation. With everything you do it is important that you start with the end in mind so that it keeps you focused, self-motivated and in relenteles pursuit.
Keeping your eyes on the prize is the sure fire way for all of us to keep and meet our goals in life. It is important to visualize the end result of any goal whether a physical or spiritual goal. There are always going to be obstacles in life whether people or circumstance or the devil himself and we must stay vigilant and steadfast. If you will keep the mental picture of the end result in mind, it will keep you on track. I start everyday with prayer and meditation of all of my spiritual and physical goals, as well as, my gratitude of where I am today. Prayer and meditation and practicing gratitude would be helpful in staying focused on all your goals. Here’s to you keeoing the end in mind for all of your 2016 goals.
