Follow Through and Your Why

Are you looking for inspiration on how to improve your follow through on activities where you find yourself procrastinating or goals you have been putting off? Well, I have your Man that you can pull this inspiration from and He will blow you away. Yesterday, as I sat in Sunday morning church listening to Bro. David Sproule delivering our lesson of the day and I had no idea that this information would give me the inspiration I required to do anything that I have been putting off.

The lesson was on when did Jesus know how and when he would be crucified. I am going to give you the reader digest version as I know I could not do this lesson justice. Take time to go to https://youtu.be/4VhjZhhJo0Y. Anyone who listens to this message really has no room to complain or procrastinate. So let’s explore how the Bible reveals when Jesus knew how and when he would be “lifted up” on our behalf.

When Did Jesus Know He Would Be Crucified?:

Luke 9: 30-31: Jesus at the Mt. of Transfiguration. This takes plave about a year before his crucifixion.

John 3:14: This is 3 years before His crucifixion that he knew he would be nailed to the cross.

Isaiah 53: This is about 750 years before He came to the earth.

Psalm 22: This is about 1000 years before He came to the earth.

Don’t let me lose you here…when I go back to the Old Testament. Jesus was the word and He wrote the Bible. He knew that He would be crucified before he left heaven and came to this earth.

I Peter 1:18-21 and Rev 13:8: For ordained before the foundation of the earth. There was a plan to nail Jesus to the cross before he came to this earth. Our God knew that if He gave man free will and with Satan’s evil spirit that perfection was too much for man to ascertain. He always expects us to strive to be like Christ, but He provided an avenue for us to be redeemed.

If Jesus knew that he was going to be beaten, scouraged, mocked, and be nailed to the cross, how did He follow through? He had to give up some of His diety to come to earth to be a man and the perfect propitiation for our sins. He was spotless from sin, perfect even after being tempted with every sin we will ever face and yet, he did not waiver. He was steadfast against the devil and remained focused on His mission. What motivated Jesus? His love for you and your soul’s salvation that is His number one priority and His Why.

Jesus’ and Our Father’s Why:

1 John 3:16: He loved us, He showed us love. Love is an act, not an emotion.

Ephesians 5:2: Walk in love, just as Christ also loved you

Galatians 2:20: He gave Himself for me.

Isiah 53: Reveals the prophecy of Christ’s crucifixion and why it was necessary so that we might be saved.

Matthew 1:21: He was our salvation from our sins.

I Timothy 2:4: He desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.

John 14:1-6: He has a place prepared for you in Heaven.

Christ’s eternal longing for your soul to be saved and for you to be in Heaven with Him is why he came to this earth knowing that what He would to have bear that cross for our salvation. He felt the pain, sorrow, and separation from the Father, and He went to the cross anyway. He never lost focus on His Why and His Why was bigger than His own desires to not have to bear such a horrible, physical death. Every soul’s salvation is a huge deal and even though you and I will never have that type of why, we can’t lose sight that our number one why is to teach the gospel to every person of every nation. The next time we want to make an excuse for not doing a task take your mind back to Christ and how He went to the cross for you. This should be all the inspiration you require to follow through on any task or goal that you are working towards or have been putting off.
