After watching the political debate last night, I went to bed with a heavy, saddened heart. For me my emotions were all over the place; from anger, to disbelief, to embarrassment, then finally heartbroken. I have never and will never align with a specific poliical party as it appears that politicians feel that their word does not have to be kept so empy promises and more empty promises. I am an individualist...I vote for whom is for me...the one that aligns most with where I am and the one who will lead this great nation in the direction that I desire. I take a real hard core look at what their past/present actions say about them and if they are part of the existing establishments, then how they have voted and what they have done in the states in which they represent. I do not allow my emotions to play a role in deciding a person to protect our freedoms. However, I did find myself very emotional over the state of our politics last night so I asked myself how am I as an individual going to really do anything about this situation. The best solution that I came up with is to PRAY. I am going to pray for God to change the heart of these politcians and to guide me to make the best decisions whether it is a primary or the general election.
My Granny Evans loved the political arena and she has me hooked as well, and if I felt that I had a candidate, then I would stand behind him. I do not feel comfortable advocating for any of the candidates in either party, therefore I will pray for God to guide my decision and pray for him to work on their hearts. I know that there is one candidate that I can always depend on and that is my Lord. He said he would never forsake us and that if we ask we would receive, now what I want may not be what He knows best, but if we do not petition our God for help we will never receive anything. I have also been taught that the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much...can you imagine if we all were praying the same petition? I challenge you all to get to praying. Our freedoms and safety as a nation are serious issues and it is important to remember that the real Commander In Chief is waiting to hear our prayers. Prayer is a powerful tool in our arsenal that can produce change and it is probably underutilized. So here's to all of us who will join together in praying for the 2016 election and the leaders of this great nation. Here's to letting go and letting God.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
