The Gift of Listening

In today’s world where everyone is living in the fast lane, in a world of electronics, and with mass distractions, the art of listening should be on the endangered list for extinction. Listening is the best gift you can offer someone. I mean listening with your heart, without being rushed or interruptions, and with focused attention. People require a safe place to communicate their feelings. I am writing to show you how to offer this gift to every soul you meet.

Start practicing making eye contact with every soul you meet. The instant you make eye contact silently say I love you to the person while making eye contact. I am not talking about the lover love, but the sincere love for that person’s soul and wellbeing. Show love to every person we meet and we can do this with how we communicate. Communication is a skill that has to be purposeful. As long as you are in a conversation and the other person is talking, never lose eye contact. When the other person speaking gives a pause, remain silent embracing this pause and if they do not start the conversation again, then you can being talking by ask questions…valid questions to lead them to a goal no matter is they are seeking advice or a solution or if they are discussing dreams or other life situations. Ensure you never leave a conversation without complimenting the other party in some way. This type of conversation allows the person you are engaged with know that you are sincere, it builds trust, and allows them to feel your compassion.

Everything in life is energy from your thoughts, your feelings, your breathing. By engaging and communicating with people everyday in this manner, you will create a conscious awareness of your thoughts and behavior. Being consciously aware will allow you to be purposeful as we are in control of our thoughts and the energy that we disperse in this universe. I am calling on you to hone these skills and give the gift of listening, as this is an act of love.
