Living On Purpose

Seldom do you hear productive people complain about being too busy. They know the fundamentals of the day are not often accomplished when scurrying about with no direction. Take a moment and glean from the habits of people who reach goals and live with purpose. Often you'll find they do just "happen" upon a day. Each morning is greeted with focus and intent. Their decisions are logical, informed and well thought out. They understand spontaneity is a welcomed reprieve, not a lifestyle choice. Those who stay busy are often scatter-minded, unable to complete one task before jumping to the next. Directionless day leaves one feeling frazzled, incomplete and unsettled. Their health and physical appearance often reflect their poor choices; tired, slumped shoulders, disheartened, dull complexion, defensive, moody and an overall feeling of being worn down. What must be understood is those who are productive in life made the choice to be that way, and then they took the steps necessary to get where they are today. They did not harbor resentment for those who were doing this life well; rather they sat at the feet those people and became their student. It's important to know that people who live productive lives do not necessarily have the easiest of circumstance. But what they do have is a desire to be "their" best no matter their situation. If I could offer a morsel of counsel, it would be to pray for guidance, map out what your ideal day would look like, prioritize, then manage your time to COMPLETE your task or move towards the reaching of your goal. Finally, what could not be accomplished today, relocate to tomorrow's planner, then repeat. It's about taking small steps in the right direction, keeping things simple, working outside your comfort zone and maintaining an "I can" attitude. Remember our God is not the Author of confusion. Your daily schedule should not be a random happening. That is thinking like the world. God has your day planned. He'll tell you that plan if you make up your mind to submit to His will for your life. "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2
